Tinubu’s Bayelsa visit: The Bayelsa State Government has declared Friday, April 10, 2026, a work-free day ahead of the scheduled visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the state for the inauguration of major infrastructure projects.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, in Yenagoa, the state capital.

She said the directive was aimed at enabling civil servants, traders, and residents to participate fully in activities lined up for the President’s one-day official visit.

According to her, the state is fully prepared to receive the President, whom she described as the “father of the nation,” as Bayelsa hosts the Commander-in-Chief for the commissioning of legacy projects executed by the administration of Governor Douye Diri.

“As we all know, the state is ready, and we are ready as a people to receive the father of the nation, our father and leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will be in the state on a one-day visit to inaugurate four legacy projects,” she said.

Koku-Obiyai added that markets across the state would remain closed for the day as part of arrangements to ensure a smooth and successful visit.

President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate key projects, including the state-owned gas turbine at Opolo-Elebele, the 60-kilometre dual carriageway stretching from Onopa to the LNG axis, and the 630-metre bridge linking Angiama to Oporoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

The projects are considered major pillars in the state’s infrastructure and economic development drive.

The commissioner urged residents to comply with the directive and turn out in large numbers to welcome the President.

The visit marks the Bayelsa leg of Tinubu’s ongoing multi-state official engagements, with the President also expected to commission strategic projects in other states before returning to Abuja
