The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested two suspected vandals in separate intelligence-led operations targeting the theft of materials from critical national infrastructure.

State Commandant Mohammed Agalama announced the arrests while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Kano on Monday.

According to him, the operations were carried out at Panshekara in Kumbotso Local Government Area and Yankaba in Nassarawa Local Government Area as part of efforts to protect critical national assets across the state.

The suspects were identified as Gath Gamaliel, 22, from Zango in Kaduna State, and Salisu Jibrin, 31, a resident of Kurna in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.

Agalama said Gamaliel was found in possession of 17 vandalised railway clips, while Jibrin, suspected to be a receiver of stolen property, was arrested after allegedly arriving to collect about 60 kilograms of suspected vandalised copper wire.

The commandant said the recovered materials were believed to have been illegally removed from public infrastructure.

He added that investigations were ongoing to identify other members of the suspected syndicates and that the suspects would be prosecuted after investigations are concluded.

Agalama urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to help protect critical national assets and infrastructure.
