Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has formally presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The presentation came weeks after Gwamna emerged as the APC’s standard-bearer following the party’s governorship primary and stakeholder consultations that produced him as the preferred candidate for the 2027 race.

According to a statement issued by the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, President Tinubu congratulated Gwamna on securing the APC ticket and expressed confidence in the party’s ability to maintain its dominance in Gombe State.

The President reportedly commended Governor Yahaya for strengthening the APC’s structures and sustaining political stability in the state.

Tinubu was quoted as expressing optimism that the APC would continue to build on developmental gains recorded in the state while sustaining the momentum of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for Governor Yahaya to brief the President on political developments in Gombe and preparations ahead of the transition to a new administration after his tenure.

Speaking during the visit, Yahaya praised Tinubu’s leadership and thanked the Federal Government for support in infrastructure, economic development and investment initiatives.

“Presenting Dr. Jamilu Gwamna to Mr. President is not only symbolic of party unity and continuity, but also a demonstration of the APC’s preparedness to consolidate on the gains recorded in Gombe State over the years,” the governor said.

Political observers see the move as a major step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election as the party seeks to retain power in the state.

Gwamna, a former Managing Director of Kano Electricity Distribution Company, emerged as a leading contender after securing support from major stakeholders within the ruling party.

His emergence followed extensive consultations among party leaders, elected officials and grassroots structures across the state.

The formal introduction of the APC candidate to President Tinubu is expected to strengthen his political profile and reinforce the party’s continuity agenda as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
