A suspect has reportedly confessed to stealing cash belonging to several Super Falcons players at their hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of Nigeria’s opening match at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The suspect has reportedly been arrested and is expected to return all the stolen money while criminal proceedings continue.
The theft occurred at the Marriott Hotel on the final day of Nigeria’s training camp before the team relocated to Rabat for its Group C fixtures.

Midfielder Esther Okoronkwo revealed that she, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Michelle Alozie and captain Rasheedat Ajibade were among the players whose cash was stolen.
According to Okoronkwo, more than $1,000 was taken during the incident. She also criticised the hotel’s response, alleging that staff failed to properly address the complaint.
Former Super Eagles media officer Colin Udoh later disclosed that a suspect had been arrested and confessed to the crime, adding that the stolen money would be returned to the affected players.
Despite the incident, the Super Falcons have remained focused on the tournament.
Head coach Justine Madugu’s side completed preparations in Rabat and will open their Group C campaign against Malawi before taking on Zambia and Egypt as they chase a record-extending 11th WAFCON title.
