The Borno State Police Command has confirmed that three separate locations in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, were struck by suspected suicide bombers on Monday evening.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Nahum Daso, the incidents occurred at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri Monday Market, and the Post Office Flyover.
Security personnel from the command’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit were deployed to the affected areas to conduct clearance operations and ensure the locations are safe. The police said the operations were part of measures taken following the suspected bomb incidents.
Authorities also indicated that normal activities have resumed in the city while security agencies continue monitoring the situation.
Earlier reports indicated that several people were killed and others sustained injuries as a result of the explosions, although the exact number of casualties has not yet been officially confirmed.
Residents have been urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
