Plateau violent attack: Soldiers Nab Fake Operatives, Kill Three Terro Troops of the Joint Military Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, have killed three suspected terrorists and arrested two persons allegedly involved in setting homes ablaze during separate security operations in Plateau State. The development was disclosed on Friday by the task force’s Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Oteh, who said the latest Plateau security operation forms part of ongoing efforts to restore calm in areas affected by recent violence.

According to the statement, soldiers responding to a distress call over gunfire in the Dutse Uku community of Jos North Local Government Area moved swiftly to the scene late at night and arrested two suspects said to have posed as security personnel.

Oteh said the suspects were dressed in black tactical uniforms and were allegedly caught while taking part in the burning of residential buildings and coordinating violence within the community.

He said, “At approximately 11:45 pm, vigilant troops responding to a distress call on sporadic shooting at Dutse Uku general area intercepted and apprehended 2 individuals masquerading as security operatives. These impostors, dressed in tactical black uniforms, were caught actively participating in the arson of residential properties and the orchestration of violence within the community.”

The military spokesperson added that the two suspects are currently in custody, while two individuals who sustained gunshot wounds are receiving medical treatment.

In a separate operation carried out in Karem, located in Wase Local Government Area, troops reportedly intercepted what authorities described as a large-scale movement of terrorists.

During the operation, three insurgents were neutralised, a development the military linked to the recent deployment of specialised counter-terrorism personnel across vulnerable parts of the state.

Oteh said the latest success reflects the strengthening of Plateau’s security architecture as troops intensify offensives against armed groups and criminal elements threatening public safety.

He also called on residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with timely intelligence.

The statement urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons and unusual activities to the nearest security authorities, stressing that community cooperation remains crucial to restoring lasting peace.

“Through continued cooperation and the current strategic offensive, the military remains committed to ensuring the permanent restoration of safety and order for all citizens,” the statement added.
